Today, we've got a unique treat: a sneak peek of the rental kitchen of Remodelista editor Jordan, featured in the just-released novel Remodelista: A Manual for the Considered House. The rental kitchen of Sarah is completely wonderful, the effect of a couple of upgrades that are smart. Bound beneath to see another picture also to hear more on what shifted in her kitchen, what she loves, and her guidance to those who live from Sarah and cook in rental kitchens:
1. Upgrades or what changes did you make to your own rental kitchen?
I 'd a mottled gray and black granite kitchen counter along with a grey checkerboard linoleum flooring that I did my best to ignore but to little avail. My landlord didn't need any changes to be made by me, so I covered it that I 'd laser cut in a neighborhood manufacturing shop. I nailed to conceal the sides of the arctic cream granite countertop as well as the front.

It sits on the present linoleum, when we go, so we are able to take it up, wedged between the cupboards and walls without nails.

2. What is your favourite component of the brand new kitchen?
The countertop. Having a neutral palette makes for a great backdrop showing my growing number of ceramics for cooking and prepping food in addition to for both. I take advantage of walnut oil to condition it every once every so often plus it provides a wonderful vibrant feel to the wood.

3.
I do believe storage could be a challenge in a kitchen that is rental particularly in an older bungalow like mine. When I moved in but it's proved priceless and that I enjoy the availability of the pans for cooking, I wasn't wild in regards to the pot rack. Just as much as I prefer to hang things in the wall, I enjoy to maintain on the countertops as little mess as possible. Not merely does it feel clean, it makes the little kitchen feel more open.

4. Any shopping resources for the kitchen youwant to talk about?
I 've several of those little stackable Hasami pots which can be actually useful. The one shown here beside the cooker has salt on garlic and top interior. I've had the Sori Yanagi Tea Kettle for some time. Itis a classic and that I don't tire of it.
