Stretch mark is a problem faced by most women. These indented streaks in pale color appear on various parts of the body. Sometimes, these streaks appear in pink, red, blue, blue, black, and purple colors. Stretch marks commonly appear on the abdomen, stomach, thighs, hips, and other areas. Though they are not painful, many women want to go for stretch marks treatment to get smoother and even skin tone.

These marks appear due to various reasons such as, obesity/overweight, pregnancy, Cushing's syndrome, Marfan syndrome, or other genetic disorders. If you have a family history of stretch marks, then you have more chances of getting it. Rapidly losing or gaining weight will also cause stretch marks on the skin.

These marks fade over time. However, if you are very concerned about your appearance, you can go for stretch mark treatments. You should keep in mind that the even the most effective treatment method may not give you cent percent results. The intensity of the marks can be reduced, but not completely erased. The various types of treatment for stretch marks removal are:

Microdermabrasion

In this treatment technique, tiny crystals are blown on the skin using a hand-held device. The crystals gently remove the outer layer of the skin, leaving behind a clearer and smoother inner layer of skin. For a few days after the treatment, you may feel a burning or singeing feeling on your skin. The skin will begin to heal in a week to 10 days. The younger skin will have lesser visible streaks.

Laser Treatment

Laser therapy has also been found to be effective for stretch marks removal. In this technique, an intense beam of laser is beamed on the targeted areas. The laser ray heats up the skin, boosting collagen growth. It also shrinks the dilated blood vessels. The dermatologist you consult will suggest the best type of laser therapy and the number of sessions that will be required for removing the marks.

Retinoid cream

Tretinoin is a Vitamin A derivative that is used for stretch marks removal treatment. This derivative works on rebuilding the collage in your skin, making it more elastic. With regular use, the stretch marks fade away.

The dermatologist takes various factors such as skin type, severity of the condition, age of the stretch marks, and your budget into consideration before recommending the best stretch marks treatment for you.
