Things Related to the JEE Main Ranks

With rigorous preparations and huge syllabuses to cover, it is not unusual for a JEE aspirant to miss out a thing or two. However, little information often holds great significance. Especially, with something as grave as JEE Main ranks, students should know the details inside and out.

JEE Main ranks play a key role in deciding the future of the JEE candidates, but there remains a lot more that must be known about them. The JEE Main rank is scheduled to be released somewhere in the month of June this year. It will be based on these ranks that seats for the counseling process for the students will be allocated. This will be done by the conducting body – JoSAA.

The JEE Main 2017 results for paper I are to be declared on 27th April, 2017, while the results for Paper II will be out on the 27th of May. There stands no doubt that the time after taking the exam, until the declaration of the JEE Main ranks, will be full of anticipation for the students. A JEE Main rank predictor is a tool offered by numerous online websites, where students who appeared for the JEE Mains can get an estimate of the rank they hope to obtain in their JEE Mains result. In order to use a JEE Main rank predictor, students must first register or log in using their email ids, or Facebook /Google account. Next, they must fill in the requisite details, which will help calculate the estimated JEE Main rank. These details include –

•Date of appearing for the JEE Main exam

•JEE Main marks expected

Some other websites also require the students to fill in their city name and nationality. Others also reveal the student’s profile, including insights on various aspects of the exam and even colleges that the student can get admission to.
However, a JEE Main rank predictor discloses a merely indicative rank and hence, it may differ from the actual rank. Such tools are devised to make planning easier for the students.

JEE Main All-India rank

•The JEE Main 2017 All-India rank will only be available online, on the official website.
•Students must save the JEE Main rank card until admissions in the participating institutions are over.
•In order to obtain an admission, students must fulfill the eligibility criteria, along with producing the original certificates for verification.
•As per the HRD ministry, Class XII marks will no longer be considered for determining the JEE Main 2017 rank.

JEE Main rank tie-breaker

In case of a tie, in the JEE Main rank, of two students or more, the following criteria will be involved to break the tie for admission into institutions other than the IITs:

To B.E. /B Tech

•Candidate with higher marks in Mathematics and Physics will be preferred.
•Candidate with a higher absolute ratio of positive and negative marks will be rewarded a better rank.

To B Arch

•Candidate with higher marks in the Aptitude test will rank higher
•Candidate with better marks in the drawing test will rank higher
•Candidate with a higher absolute value of the ratio of the positive and negative marks will be ranked higher.

If none of the above criterion helps in resolution of the matter, the students will receive equal ranks.
