There are 16.2 million Hispanic households in the United States as reported in 2015, and most of them speak Spanish. In fact, 39.3 million people in the U.S. are fluent in the language by the time they reach five years old. In 1990, only 17.3 million people spoke Spanish in their households. This new number is an astonishing 126.3 percent increase. That’s right, nearly 127 percent more people speak Spanish in the U.S. than over 25 years ago, and the population continues to grow.
