First impression is the last impression.

When someone enters your house, what is the first thing they would notice? If you have kept your house untidy, they would see stains and dust. While if you manage the cleanliness of your house properly, they would be impressed. House cleanliness is important.

Here are some DIY (do-it-yourself) tips to clean your house:

Furniture

We talked to a dealer at Eden gallery, a designer furniture store that sells handmade furniture in Melbourne and found out these cleaning tips for your furniture.

Cleaning the sofas

In order to clean your sofa, you can use a mild detergent with water. Here are the steps:

Prepare a solution with detergent and water.

Spot-test the solution.

Apply the solution to the remaining parts.

Let the sofa air-dry.

Cleaning wooden furniture

To remove water stains, you can use a small amount of toothpaste until the stain is gone.

In case there are ink marks that you want to get rid of, use baking powder mixed with water

Windows

In order to clean your windows, you would need a multipurpose cleaner. Just spray the cleaner on the glass and wipe it clean. In order to remove the dust accumulated at the sides, you can use a toothbrush (the one that you don’t use for cleaning your teeth).

Floors

Add vinegar to mop water

If you want your floor to look clean and shiny, add white vinegar to mop water. But be sure to not add more than 2 or 3 drops, else there is a chance of slipping.

Consider adding a disinfectant

You can add a few drops of disinfectant to the mop water especially if you have kids at home. The disinfectant will ensure that the floor has minimum germ count. Germs are always there, they will just be less if you use a disinfectant.

Kitchen

Sterilise the kitchen sink

Use a mild disinfectant to sterilise the kitchen sink. This is one place in your house that should always be kept clean, without any excuses.

TV and Refrigerator

Again, a multipurpose cleaner can help keep the dust and stains away from the TV screens and refrigerators. We would advise you to turn off the refrigerator as well as the TV set while cleaning.

Further Info

The above DIY approach is good for everyone who has sufficient time to clean their houses. In case you think you cannot find time for the same, hire a professional cleaning services especially for the furniture and windows.
