Cultural and artistic events in Makarska

While visiting countries and towns, it is always nice to visit local events which you cannot find in your city. Makarska has few of them that are internationally known. Here are our recommendations.

Urlaub Makarska Cultural Summer – This manifestation is visited by old and young, citizens and guests. It takes place during whole summer tourist season and includes plays, various exhibitions, classical and modern music concerts, Klapa ceremonies (Klapa is a kind of an authentic, traditional Dalmatian choir), evenings of poetry and many other cultural events.

You are able to better know cultural identity of Makarska, taste local foods and, after all, relax and have fun until late night hours.

Fisherman's Evenings – This is one of events held during the CulturalApartment Makarska Cultural Summer. Leave friday night free for spending time on promenade. On Fisherman's evenings you can try a lot of traditional dalmatian food which is grown on this teritory and cooked by local people. Everything is available in approachable prices. With good food goes also lots of fun and music. All your senses will be satisfied.

For most tourists the entertainment programme is most interesting. It includes some games that our citizens used to play while they were young; throwing the stone over the shoulder, pulling the rope, donky races or running in the bags.

For nice end of the night there is usually firework.

MaFest – This international comic book festival is held every year for one week at the end of May. You can visit a lot of exhibitions and lectures on a history of comics. Also you will be able to meet some special guests, renown in the world of the ninth art.

Echo Fest - Echo is an underground electronic music festival which takes place at the end of June on the beautiful beach location, popular Buba beach bar. Three days of unstoppable party gives you unforgetable memories. You will enjoy sounds of disco, funk, hip hop and house music from dusk till dawn.

Dalmatia Wine Expo – Dalmatia Wine Expo is the festival of wine and local gastronomic specialities. It is the largest wine festival in Dalmatia and a central venue for the wine-lovers in the region. Takes place every year, usually on the last weekend in April. Two venues where the festival is held mark two somewhat different ideas behind the festival: Split happening is dedicated to the business of making and selling wine, while Makarska a week later is basically a two-day party.
