What is Time?

Many scientists have actually failed to fully explain the definition or meaning of time. Another thing that has proved difficult is explaining how time actually works. As physics explains it, time is reversible to almost all natural laws. What this means is that events could still be occurring even if the time was moving backwards. The question that is unsolved up to date is whether time can actually move backwards. One thing for sure is that time moves forward.

But, when did time start? The beginning of time can actually be traced back by consideration the creation as well as evolution of universe or cosmos. Actually, events that can be seen in the universe happened in the past. For example, you may see a star which is one light year from us. Light travels at approximately 300,000000 meters per second. So, what this means is that if we have a technology that can enable us travel at the speed of light, which scientists say is not possible, we would reach the star after a period of one year.

Many scientists had this believe that the universe or cosmos was actually infinite and static. However, latest observations show that the universe keeps expanding. Now, what it means is that the creators of universe might have a universe that was in compact state. Based on this, we can say that time actually begun when the universe begun.

Time can be described in three ways. Firstly, we have past. The past can be described as the events that have already occurred. For example, we typing on a keyboard, you will realize that the letters that pops up are already in the past. Another perfect example is when you tap your feet continuously, the previous tapping are past. Measuring past is hard. If you take the past time and divide it repeatedly, then you will reach infinity.

What most people don’t know is that everything that they do is in past time. If your read a sentence in a back and few seconds pass, then that will be already past. The roads and pavements were actually developed in the past. The stars and objects we can see in the universe were developed in the past. So, does that mean that time is older than the universe?

Secondly, we have present. Present time can simply be described as the events happening at this moment. For example, if you are eating at this moment. But as mentioned previously, present doesn’t last long and whatever you are doing is actually in past time. Thirdly, we have the future time. The future time refers to a time that you plan to do something. For example, you will go for a dinner or you will go to school. In short, you have to wait until the time reaches and do the job.

The most common and reliable tools that can be used to measure time are calendars and watches. For instance, you can mark when you would for differ, or when you attended gym last. We usually store the events that have passed or occurred in our brains but remembering them in chronological order may prove difficult. By using such tools, it is much easier to know what actually occurred.
