Hemorrhoids are blood vessels that are situated under the smooth muscles of the walls of the anus and rectum. These are clumps, masses, and cushions of tissues in the anal canal supporting the tissue, elastic fibers, and muscles. The inflammation caused by the hemorrhoids causes the piles.
