Number of students per classroom

The teacher student ratio should not lead one to believe that each teacher takes care of that number of children in one classroom. For instance, a classroom may have 80 students, but the teacher student ratio may be 1:30. This ratio of 1:30 may sometimes cloud the judgement of parents into believing that the classrooms have only 30 students. Choose a school where the classrooms are not overcrowded. Overcrowded classrooms do injustice to the learning efforts of students.

The pass percentage in public board exams

Whether you like it or not, the immediate goal of schooling is to clear the public board exams. The pass percentage of the students of the school can be a good indication of the standard of education.  Failure among a large number of students could be indicative of teacher ineptitude, or the standards of students who join the institution. Either way, it does not bode well for your wards as your children may end up getting influenced by the performance of their peers.

Distance from residence and transport facilities

One of the more important aspects of the student’s education, is the time taken to commute to school. Travelling insane distances to school may tire out a student even before setting foot in class. It is therefore necessary to either choose a good school nearby or shift to a location near the school.  Additionally, the transport facilities made available by the school management need to be verified. Most of the schools offer transportation or have arrangements with recognized/authorized transporters to ferry the children to and from school.
