Have you ever thought that the main cause of all the conflicts in the world is the lack of effective communication between people? How is communication different from effective communication? Communication is the simple conveying of messages between two persons or a group of persons. It can be casual, personal, or official as well. However, as long as the conveyance is a superficial one, it remains a simple communication. If the same communication starts a chain of activities leading to a positive result, it becomes an effective communication.

People communicate with each other in numerous ways. It could be oral, written, through emails, and even through the use of social media. Whenever you make a communication and want the people to take action on it, you should create an eager want in the person performing the act. If you are able to arouse this feeling, you get positive results. Otherwise, you end up with unsatisfactory ones on your lap. A leader has to exhort his followers from practicing what he preaches. When we use the term ‘effective communication’, it means that we put our heart and soul in communicating with others down the line. This communication should spur the others to perform at much higher levels that they are capable of doing. You can ensure such behavior only if you learn to give the credit where it is due. A team leader should know that the entire team has to perform for its success. Certain team members can play a bigger part than the others but it does not mean that one should ignore the contribution of the minor players in the team. One day, it could be their chance to perform while the majors fail. This is what team work is all about. The team leader should have the capacity to inspire people through his words as well as his deeds. This is one of the secrets of effective communication.

In this age of social media interactions, people are slowly losing the art of effective communication. The social media has invaded our lives to such an extent that people living in the same house wish each other’s birthday through social media interactions rather than just extending a hand and wishing him personally. It is not that social media is evil or anything of that sort. It is an important medium of communication. However, a personal touch is always a great feeling every time.
