Gay Friendly Hotels and Accommodation in Chiang Mai

Posted by Howie’s HomeStay on May 3rd, 2017

Even though it is a conservative and mainly Buddhist country, Thailand is probably one of the most LGBT friendly places in the world. Chiang Mai is especially welcoming to LGBT visitors. This northern city has a good number of gay friendly hotels that you can book when traveling to the country. Thailand may one of the most gay friendly countries in Asia, but it is important to note that while the country is generally accepting of gay guests, not all hotels may be as accommodating to LGBTs. This is why it is important to find gay friendly hotels you can choose from so you can be sure that you will be treated with respect as you holiday in Thailand. Before booking your hotel, double check if the accommodation you have chosen is truly gay friendly. Here are some things you should remember when trying to find a gay friendly accommodation in Chiang Mai:

•Online reviews will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from the hotel of your choice. Make it a habit to read reviews before booking anything so you can gauge just how true their LGBT friendly claim is. Even when a hotel explicitly says they are gay-friendly, reviews from actual gay customers may say the opposite.

•A private villa will keep you away from prying eyes. If you want a quiet holiday, booking a secluded, private facility will give you the privacy you want, away from the disagreeing glances of other conservative guests. Having a private villa all to yourself can also make your Chiang Mai holiday even more memorable. So don’t limit yourself to hotels—there are plenty of accommodation types available.

•It helps to get in touch with your hosts or the hotel owners before making any commitment. Reserve and book only when you have corresponded with the hotel management so you can align expectations and let them know that you are traveling with a gay partner or an entire party of gay friends who want a taste of the lovely country that is Thailand. Accepting, open-minded hosts who will give you the utmost respect and equal service you deserve.

Finally, when you get to your destination, don’t let judging looks keep you from enjoying your well-deserved holiday. Not that anyone will stare, really. This is Thailand—and everyone is welcome.
