Microwave Absorbing Material

Microwave absorbing material can be divided into the structural type, the coated type and the patch type according to its application. The advantages and disadvantage of the three kinds of microwave absorber are as follows:

1. The structural type microwave absorbing material takes non-metal composite material as the carrier with the absorbent added. Normally, epoxy resin and thermoplastic materials as the carrier with ferrite, graphite, carbon black and other absorbers added. From the working principle of microwave absorber, we can see that its absorbing ability and absorption capacity of absorbers are closely related. Acetylene carbon black is electrical-loss inorganic absorbing material with good wave absorption ability and a cheap price. This kind of material can reduce the scattering of electromagnetic waves as well as withstand a certain load. It’s lighter than the average metal material, and has certain strength and rigidity, and it has been applied.

2. The coated microwave absorber takes resin and rubber polymer solution or emulsion as the base material with a certain proportion of the absorbent added by a specific process. So far, the coated microwave absorber with a variety of ferrite, iron and its alloy powder as the main absorber has been widely applied. Japan and the United States have developed a series of ferrite microwave absorbing materials such as lithium cadmium ferrite, lithium zinc ferrite, nickel cadmium ferrite and ceramic ferrite. This absorber is convenient in construction and low in cost, and is suitable for the complicated shaped objects; the disadvantage is that the weight, thickness and adhesive force often affect the aerodynamic characteristics of the equipment.

3.The patch type does not adapt to very complex shapes. But it can achieve complex structural design, and the applied patches are rubber, ceramic and plastic pieces.
