Vasai-Virar No longer in the shadow of Mumbai

The Vasai-Virar region located in Thane district of Maharashtra, today, has arisen as a preferred destination for reasonable housing. Primary reasons being the rehabilitation of slums which is going on full swing and with majority of companies shifting their offices from South Mumbai to the city’s western suburb. Over the time the population in this region has crossed the 1 million mark with Vasai-Virar being termed as the 5th largest city in Maharashtra. The region is spread over 385 sq km of huge land, which includes forest cover and hilly terrain and is governed by the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation.

The region has an extensive bank of land which has prompted several big developers to invest here with huge construction plans. Over the last two decades this region has witnessed an enormous and quickest growth of real estate along with auxiliary development. Also, with this increase the region has also seen a spur in population very rapidly as a result of constant enhancement in connectivity, affordability of rates of property in Virar and enhanced infrastructure. Also, the approval for the development process has been extremely quick and hassle free in this area, thus helping quick delivery of projects.

One factor that can be attributed to the rapid development of the Vasai-Virar region is the keenness of the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation to better things up. In 2012, the corporation presented an annual budget of Rs 1266 for the further development of infrastructure in the region. There has been many projects completed in recent years and many are in the pipeline that will transform the entire region from being a satellite city to a metropolitan city in the years to come. The shift in population is primarily due to the increased real estate prices in and around Mumbai, and affordable rates for flats in Virar.

The growth rate of the region as far as population is concerned has always been on the higher side than Mumbai and the MMRDA region. The region is strategically linked by road and rail to Mumbai and to other cities in the state. Today, Virar is renowned for hosting many quality residential and commercial spaces. Several business owners in the real estate space have ventured into the region and have constructed top quality homes for the needy. Today, a 2BHK flat in Virar can be obtained at quite a reasonable cost with loads of amenities. This has led to more influx of people coming from all quarters.

The developments in the Vasai-Virar region will continue to make the region a places offering outstanding opportunities, for both the people as well as for businesses. This will not only contribute towards the growth of economy but will also fulfill the dreams of many families.
