Gaming Motherboard Buying Guide

Posted by Michael on May 23rd, 2017

When building a PC, motherboard is undoubtedly the most essential part. Being the fundamental part it will host various parts of computer.

Despite the fact that the processor, RAM or graphic cards will decide the performance of your PC, it is the motherboard that they must be integrated with. For this reason an appropriate board is required.

So when is choosing a board important? Picking a gaming motherboard is crucial in case you want to build your own PC and it's your first time. There are certainly a few things to consider while picking it.  Essentially four things you need to focus upon while looking for a gaming motherboard. The factors are -cost, life span or solidness, future-resistance and size.

These are the things you might need to ask yourself as well. What amount will it cost you? Will it keep going long, say three or five years? Will you ready to refresh and overhaul? What number of USB ports does it have? These are a few inquiries you may do from yourself and here is the good news for you. These questions can be answered by taking a look here.

Size and Shape:

You should be well aware of the term “Form Factor” if you’re into gaming for a while. Let me tell you, if it’s too technical for you. Form factor is the specifications of a board, more precisely its size and shape. It will essentially disclose to you the capacity of the board in terms of space, force applied, and the quantity of ports on the back side. Form factor generally regulates the size of your PC case. If the size is smaller, the case is smaller too and vice versa.

Five general figures of these boards are there in the market each with different numbers of extension slots. The expansion port is the place where different media, memory, storage or graphic cards are embedded according to the specification of that slot. Five common form factors are ATX, Micro-ATX, Flex-ATX, DTX and Mini-ITX.

There is obviously difference between the form factors given above, each has its own pros and cons. Let’s presume you need to include a design card or sound card in your system, Mini-ITX or DTX may not be the best decision in this case. If you want to put your gaming PC on top of a desk then the ATX or even EATX might be too big. While deciding it for purchase, it is essential that you know the needed size of the board you need. It’s because this is something of real value.

Design Deliberations:

It may not seem apparent but considering the layout, how a board is organized, should be given a thought. Not all boards have a similar arrangement or have parts in the similar area.

So when you are picking a gaming motherboard make sure that you are very much aware of where everything is found. Knowing these things will give you an advantage when picking the motherboard.
