Things you might not know about Google

If you have searched for images on Google you probably might know there is an option called ?safe search?. Well normally if you search for a word there you get pictures of naked girls and stuff (basically pornographic content). Because of that Google has given you this option to filter the search results. So you won?t get any dirty stuff in search results. There is a huge difference between normal search and safe search. But with the experience of spending the day searching on Google I learned that it doesn?t really work all the time. Sometimes even if I have put the safe search ?on? there are still nude pictures.

Google always gives search result according to what people search most. Though the language different by country. So what I was going to say is that the search results are different from country to country. But have you ever given a thought how they do it? Actually they monitor every single search you do on Google. They actually find it through your IP address (which shows where you are from). Not only they look at that, also store that data for later use.

Well they also share that information they find with the government too. According to my knowledge America?s Patriot Act is what makes it legal. Then that means your government knows what you are doing online. So if you are searching how to set up a bomb in New York, FBI is probably after you.

And when you search something it goes through its servers and create results which they think is the best. The process will go through user personalization (past websites you visited are often promoted), trends and so much more. The ads will also appear on the right side through Google adsense.

Google adsense is a cash cow made by Google which generates them 30 billion dollars a year. It finds relevant ads based on the keywords you enter on the search bar. It matches the type and user location and appears on the screen within 0.20 seconds. A click on a ad will generate an amount from $0.01 to $50. If the ad was displayed on a web site, the site owner will have 60% of the profit generated.

It may sound like Google is the one doing everything evil; well almost every website does it. Even an innocent looking blog site showing you funny pictures may be stalking through the internet. Do you know that when you enter a site it automatically identifies your IP address and locate your computer? It doesn?t stop there. It also identifies your operating system, screen resolution, system information, what was the site you visited before and god knows what.

Bottom line is that the things you see on the surface are not all what they are.
