Upcoming Premium Hatchback Cars In India

Around a decade ago, if someone told you get a hatchback by spending around Rs. 10 lakh, then most of you would disagree. And of course anyone would spend that money on a sedan. Sedans do mean luxury cars in India and that is why the C-segment has been so popular. However, the past 10 years were evolutionary for the Indian auto sector and gave premium hatchback recognition.

Premium hatchbacks are for the urban, young audience that don’t want to compromise on power or features, while keeping the footprint compact. If you are looking for a new car under Rs. 10 lakh then premium hatchback can be a nice bet and here we are listing upcoming cars that will be launched in India soon.

Honda Jazz Facelift
Recently launched in Japan, the 2018 Honda Jazz facelift will be launching soon in India too. The new gen Jazz was launched in India in 2015 and has been a nice seller for Honda cars India. Its super spacious cabin has made it one of the most practical cars. Also, it was appreciated for its fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines. The facelift will get a few upgrades to the design along with a number of new features.

The Jazz facelift will get a new and bolder grille, tweaked headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, new fog lamp enclosures, black cladding and air intake. The rear will flaunt revised LED tail lamps and a revised bumper that gives a slimmer look to the otherwise large model. the India-spec model will continue to get the 1.2-litre iVTEC petrol and 1.5-litre iDTEC diesel mills. The engines are likely to be more fuel efficient this time.

Next Generation Volkswagen Polo
The next gen Volkswagen Polo has been under progress for some time now and more recently we got a sight of what the upcoming model will look like. Moving to its sixth gen, 2018 VW Polo is all set to get longer and wider than the outgoing version and will be based on the automaker’s MQB platform. This means the next gen Polo will be stronger, lighter while giving even better driving dynamics.

The 2018 Polo’s design is familiar but sharper while you also get new LED headlamps, tail lights and a 90 mm longer wheelbase. In the cabin there will be a new 9.5 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay support. The Polo is likely to continue with the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel units tuned for better power delivery and fuel efficiency.

Hyundai i20 Facelift
The Hyundai i20 is one of the top selling cars in the premium hatchback space. Launched in 2014, the model made a niche with its comfortable ride quality, extensive features and sharp styling. The facelift version is expected to come next year.
