How to Build a Glorious Multiple Panel Mirror

Posted by Jmase Jmuse on June 3rd, 2017

There are simple things that you can do by yourself and make your home beautiful. You do not have to be an expert in building to tackle this project. All you need are the right tools and a commitment to the project. The multi-panel mirror can significantly transform your home to look like a high-end home. The only things that you need include a board, some timber, and a few essential tools.

Some of the things you need

  • Good quality wood glue such as Alcolin. This holds the woodwork together keeping everything including the mirrors from falling apart.
  • Mirror tiles that you can source from a local dealer. They should preferably be pre-cut to make your job so much easier.
  • The panel pins.
  • Thin pine trim that will be in between the mirror tiles to hold them in place.
  • Bison board
  • Saw that you would use to cut the wood pieces to the required size with.
  • Corner cramps
  • Pine to surround the frame.
  • Drill driver and chipboard screws to fasten the wood and board in place. A hammer and nails are not appropriate for this project.

The project

  1. The first thing you do is arrange the mirrors and pine trim on the floor. Use a tape measure to get the measurements.
  1. With these measures, you can go ahead and cut the board. For this project, support framing is necessary and so leaving some small sections at the back will be the best thing to do. However, you can have your local builder do this part for you – of course at a fee.
  1. Use the drill to fasten the small sections at the back of the board. Leave at least 5mm space between the frame surround and the internal board. Mostly, this will make panel fitting easier. Mirrors are delicate, and you should handle them with utmost care.

  1. Make sure that the frame surrounds pin is sufficiently long. This will ensure that you use a miter box and saw for perfect fitting. Use your drill and wood glue to stick the pine on the backboard.
  1. Cut the pine trim according to the right measurements.
  1. Your finished work needs a great finishing if it is to make the project live up to its objective. A metallic spray in the pine trim and other areas will provide an attractive finishing consistent with the mirrors.
  1. Next is the most critical step of all. Take the mirrors one by one and glue them on the board. Let the project sit for at least 24 hours before anything. This time will allow the mirrors to stick in place appropriately.
  1. Source for a heavy duty wire that you will use to hang the project on the wall. Most importantly, ensure you fasten this wire tightly on the board to keep the multiple panel mirrors from falling off.

Final  word

You don't have to dish out your wallet to make your home attractive. The multi-panel mirror is an easy and unique project you can do it yourself to achieve this project. However, look out for those loose joints.
