A Beginner?s Guide To Motorcycle Track Days

Posted by Matthew Stephen on June 14th, 2017

We all have those days when we think of taking a break and going for a track day. However, the safety, money and other problems associated with a track day sometimes kill the idea. Go to the tracks like New Jersey Motorsports Park Lightning Raceway, New York Safety Track , and others help to ensure safety of sport bike riders.

Whenever the words “track” and “day” are uttered together images of safely controlling your motorcycle, the next MotoGP event, and hanging out with your friends come to mind. Here are two most important points to keep in mind:

  1.  It is All About the Turns: Riding along huge expressways or down long twisty roads is fine, but safety and the law potentially hold you back. Going to a race track takes this away allowing you to have the capacity to ride your motorcycle with no oil slicks, speed cameras, potholes, animals and other unpredictable events.
  1.  Everything Begins With The Road: You may feel that the methods learned on the track are of no use on the street, however this couldn't possibly be more off-base. Rapid smooth braking, more lean angle, great throttle control and visual abilities transfer to the street. Not for faster street riding, but safer riding. Honing these abilities at least means you'll gain confidence in what your motorcycle is capable of doing. When presented with a problem on the street, these skills will give you a much better set of tools to deal with it flawlessly, and keep you out of harms way.
