Some of the specialized engineering branches and industries such as mechanical, electrical, civil, aeronautical, nuclear and pharmaceutical work under strict precision to deliver accurate and error-free products. This precision requirement leads to the usage of high-quality equipment and the stable processes involved with them. So, it is essential to test the quality and effectiveness of materials used in such highly technological industries. It can be achieved through Non Destructive Testing or NDT that determines the strength and capabilities of different equipment and processes without causing any harm to them. Once it is performed, the unexpected downtime and accidents during the course of business operations can be avoided to a large extent. Some of the common NDT methods used in the industries are ultrasonic testing, magnetic-particle testing, magnetic flux leakage testing, leak testing, visual & optical inspection, eddy current testing and others.

NDT is performed by using three types of testing procedures namely magnetic particle inspection, dye penetrant testing and visual inspection. In order to detect surface-breaking defects in non-porous materials such as metals, plastics and ceramics, dye penetrant testing is performed. These defects are so minute that they may not be seen with the naked eye. Part of the material that is to be tested is cleaned and a liquid of high penetrating power is applied on it. This liquid enters in the surface opening of the discontinuity present in the material while excess liquid over the material is removed through an emulsifier. And then, a white developer is applied on the material that draws the liquid from the suspected defect to reveal the discontinuity. It can be clearly seen by a color contrast in normal visible light or by fluorescence under dark ultraviolet light and corrective measures are taken.

Professionals performing dye penetrant testing can do so only after undergoing rigorous training. Apart from the training, they also need to learn the concepts of the testing through a course. After successfully completing the course along with practical training, they are awarded certification needed to get a job as a dye penetrant tester. Many institutes are providing these training courses for the benefit of engineering professionals.

So, if you are looking for companies providing dye penetrant testing training in Houston, you can explore them online. On their websites, you can also enroll for dye penetrant testing course in Houston to learn it in a better way and get job offers from different industries.
