HD Personal Video Recorder also known as ‘PVR’, is a recording device for the Television. These days, HD PVR is an additional feature of the set-top boxes. Since this is an advanced feature, you are required to pay a premium for the same. Some people own a separate TV recording device; those people can skip investing in an HD PVR. However, an HD PVR is great for those who want to have just one device for their TV viewing and recording. You can use the HD PVR to record your favourite movies, TV shows or even music videos! This device is also known by other names such as ‘PTR – personal TV recorder’, ‘PVS- Personal Video Station’, ‘HDR - Hard Disk Recorder’. ‘DVR – Digital Video Recorder’ are to name a few.

Are VCR and PVR any different?

While PVR stands forPersonal Video Recorder, a VCR refers to a video tape/cassette recorder. Even a VCR records just the way an HD PVR does. Apart from recording, these devices also let you stop, rewind and forward a program which was recorded earlier. The recording is very seamless and quick, which makes pausing live programs possible and watching anything exciting if we have missed it. The PVR stores the recorded items on a hard-disk which is inside of it and does look very similar to what a VCR looks like.

Does HD Personal Video Recorder come with any additional features?

Most HD PVR boxes come with a remote that gives you a button which lets you look for exactly what you want to watch. You can enter key words such as the names of your actors or categories of entertainment etc. The remote also comes with pause and play buttons as you can record a live show and then pause and play if you need to take breaks while watching. Some advanced HD PVRs also record 2 shows simultaneously, in case there are 3 things at the same time which you cannot watch. This usually happens with football matches.

Should you get an HD Personal Video Recorder?

If you ask us, there are numerous reasons why you should get an HD PVR, but the most obvious one is being able to record and watch your shows as and when you want. The recorder also lets you build a collection of your favourite shows. There are days when you cannot watch a show and cannot watch the repeat, the HD PVR set up box comes to your rescue. Imagine being able to rewind and watch an epic goal that you missed in a blink.

Whatever be your reason, an HD PVR always comes of great use! Go get one today and up your TV viewing game!
