The motto of Freemasonry is ‘better men make a better world’. With over 2 million active members, Freemasonry is the largest and the oldest fraternity in the world.

Originated in the late 16th century, the fraternity has members from all quarters of the society including doctors, engineers, architects, kings and religious figures among others. People from any religion are allowed to join the fraternity as it is all about pure love, brotherhood and rational thinking.

Men who founded Freemasonry believed in strong and everlasting friendship, camaraderie and service to the mankind. It stresses on honor, personal integrity and responsibility to its members. It holds monthly or bi-monthly lodges to impart the teachings and history of Freemasonry. The idea is encourage the fraternity to live for the good of mankind and practice love and charity like a good citizen.

Joining the fraternity promises philosophical and spiritual fulfillment. Here is the eligibility criteria to become a freemason.

●You should be a man with over 18 years of age.
●Must possess a good reputation and recommendation from your peers.
●Regardless of your religion, you are supposed to have a strong faith and belief in the supreme being.
●Talk to freemasons if you want to join the fraternity. Where to find them? Several freemasons take pride in being part of the incredible society and display it with stickers on their houses, vehicles and gadgets. Spot them and talk to them; they would be more than willing to help you out with making the application.

After the acceptance of your application, you will be called for an interview before joining the masonic lodge with an Investigative Committee formed by a group of freemasons.

The committee will inquire about your history, character and what is the reason behind your decision to become a freemason. You can also ask questions and clear your doubts. After the interview, the committee takes a week or two to investigate the facts and contact concerned people to verify your credentials. It will also check your background for substance abuse, criminal activity or any other unethical thing.

After the completion of investigation, members of the committee will vote on whether to accept your application or not. If the application is accepted, you will receive an invitation letter from the masonic lodge on becoming a freemason.

Post joining, you will be required to begin with apprentice followed by Craft degree and ending with Master Mason degree to become a freemason.
