Tips to Find Safe Cosmetic and Beauty Products Online

Our skin is like a sponge that can absorb over hundreds of chemicals. FDA and the Cosmetic companies do not agree but, yes they are telling a half-truth. At a mild dose, most of the Cosmetic and Beauty Products are safe but not on higher ones. But invariably men and women tend to use many chemicals per day at varying dosages.

The chemical Phthalates, which are often found in artificial fragrances, are a class of hormone disruptor. This can be linked to birth defects, sperm damage, infertility, and the feminization of baby boys. FDA has tested roughly 10 percent of all the cosmetics and skin care ingredients. But again the test based on long term usage criteria is not done diligently. Not that a dab here or a spray there would be fatal. Typically we are on a precautionary principle means prefer to err on the side of safety until we know.

Over 1,110 personal-product ingredients have been banned for use in cosmetics in other countries. The advertisement industry as usual lives on the principle of misguiding and fooling people. Most of the products are fillers on the primary commodities. Hence finding safe cosmetic and beauty products online is even tougher.

That advertisement "Natural" may be far from it. The labels too would be misleading to the core. The Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Cosmetics Database rates popular cosmetics and personal-care products. The rating is based on their toxicity. Another label trauma is the word traces, which may be potentially dangerous chemical.

You can be bit eco-friendly and can opt for recyclable packaging and say no to toxic packaging. The plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is non-biodegradable.

PVC poses great environmental and health hazards as it is releasing hydrochloric acid and cancer-causing dioxins.  And other persistent pollutant released into the air, water, and land during its production. If you can settle for organic beauty product nothing likes it. As far as possible avoid petrochemical products entirely. Most petrochemical products have carcinogenic compounds.

The presence of heavy metals like Cadmium, Mercury, etc. is rampant in beauty products. Mercury can damage the kidney. Even the whitening toothpaste has hazardous chemicals like bleaching agents.

Aluminium hydrate is used as a topical antiperspirant or topical body deodorant.  The chemical is a neurotoxin that alters the function of the blood-brain barrier and linking it to Alzheimer's disease and cancer. So you have to be doubly careful while shopping online for cosmetics.
