There are so many different types of media to choose from when t comes to promoting your business, service or event, leaflet printing is still remains very effective and amazingly affordable, when it comes to choosing the right type of leaflet that will best suit your requirements there are a few choices to make.

Firstly there is the leaflet size, there are a range of standard sizes available like DL, A6, A5 and A4 to name a but a few, you also need to decide are your leaflets to be printed 1 side or 2 sides, and are they to be trimmed to size or folded leaflets? When it comes to the choice of material/paper that the leaflets are printed on! Should they be Glossy, matte or silk? Are the leaflets to be printed on paper or board?

If you are unsure of the difference types of material available then request some samples from your chosen printing company, this will ensure that your printed leaflets look and feel exactly how you expect them to.

One of the most effective types of leaflet printing for promoting your business or service is the Tri Fold Leaflet, more commonly known as a 6pp DL leaflet, the main reason this format is so effective is that it is like a mini brochure, giving you 6 panels to use, you can layout your information clearly and effectively.

Tri Fold Standard Size

The standard size of a Tri Fold Leaflet is A4 (297x210mm) when flat and D.L (297x99mm) when finished, traditionally crease or folded in 2 positions to give a total of 6 usable panels. The finished size is the same as compliment slip, which fits nicely into a DL envelope if being mailed out in the post.

Paper or Material Types / Grades / Weights

When it comes to the choice of material this can vary anything from an 80gsm offset which is lightweight and similar to photocopier paper through to 350gsm silk board which is more like that used for a standard business card, whilst the choice of material is very much down to the end user there are a few key factors to be considered. Firstly is the cost, as a general guide the heavier weight of the material the higher the cost, this is especially noticeable when you go above 170gsm, the reason for this is that there is an additional process involved called creasing. Secondly is the look and feel, the heavier the material the more prestigious your leaflets will look and feel, for instance a Chinese take away menu will more than likely be printed on 130gsm gloss art paper, whilst a jewellery leaflet would be more likely to be printed on a 350gsm silk board.

Buying Your Tri Fold Leaflets

When it comes to the cost of Leaflet Printing it is advisable to do your homework, the internet has really made leaflet printing affordable with many reputable online printing companies offering great value, quality and excellent service, you can expect to pay around £360.00 for 5,000 Full Colour Tri Folded Leaflets, printed on a 150gsm gloss art paper and this price will include delivery to your door! Which represents excellent value for money.

A good tip is to look at the online prices from several different companies as the prices can vary depending on a number of factors, including how quickly you need your leaflets printed. As an example there may be a premium to pay for a 24 hour service, whilst if you can wait up to 10 days then you can make some very good savings.

Samples

To ensure that Tri Fold Leaflets arrive exactly how you want them to look and feel, request some samples first, they are of course free of charge and many of the reputable online printing companies will send you a sample pack full of all different types of printed literature.

Designing Your Tri Fold Leaflets

When you are promoting your business or service often budgets are tight, whilst we are all budding designers at heart it is often the design of your leaflets that will make them a success or failure. Bear this in mind and if you can afford a designer it can be money well spent.

If you have no budget for design then talk to your printer, I had a design that I had created myself and whilst I couldn't afford a professional designer to do the job for me, I sent the design over to the printer and for a small fee they spruced up my design and the results were just fantastic.
