How to Sync mobile device to QuickBooks Point of Sale:

QBPOS team at  the future of QBPOS and mobile functionality. With the 2013 version, Intuit has quickly delivered. In easy, you can now synchronize the items in your QBPOS item list with devices capable of running the Intuit Go Payment credit card solution. Then, process sales on the mobile accessorize and have that information synchronized with your QBPOS software.

Having said that, I know some of you are envisioning using your iPad to replace workstations. Before you try to go that far, keep in mind that the transaction processing on the mobile device is limited to what you can do in Go Payment – so this creates some significant limitations in what you can do.  Still, this is a great new feature and it will be interesting to see where it leads.

QuickBooks POS Mobile Sync Information:

In order to utilize the Go Payment feature of QuickBooks POS, you MUST have an Intuit Point of Sale Merchant Account.

If you plan on processing more than 00.00 a month, I would go with the High Volume Plan, which has a monthly fee, but offers a much better swiped rate. If you would like to upgrade to the High Volume plan, call us and we can arrange it.

QB POS has no real limitations to the number of items that can be added to the Mobile Store - the limitations come from the App and the memory limitations of the phone itself.  That being said - you do not want to exceed about 80-85% of the phones capacity. In realistic terms, this means you do not want to sync more than 190-200 items to the phone.

Consider the Go Payment store like a portable version of your store -taking perhaps your best sellers, or just specific items featured at an event or outdoor sale. If your intention is to sync all of your items, such as for a trade show, you need to reconsider.

Cloud-Based or Locally-Installed:

QuickBooks Point of Sale is a locally installed software package. This means you’ll need to maintain your own hardware and assume all the risk that comes with keeping your infrastructure working and secure. Installation isn’t necessarily difficult, but it does take a little time to download and set up. This is sum primarily to the limitations of the Windows operating system and isn’t really the fault of Intuit’s programmers.

Specific Industry:

QuickBooks POS is ideally fitted to retail, however it appears sturdy enough to handle many different service homeward business varieties Since there is no way to generate integrated scales for selling items by weight, grocery stores and other concerns selling bulk goods will find QuickBooks lacking. And there are almost no features, with the exception of holding orders open, that a restaurant would find useful (e.g. table tracking, kitchen printing, tipping).

Specific Size of Business:

As with all thing Intuit-ive, QBPOS is geared toward the small to medium sized business. It could fit well in an independent store with one location, all the way up to a small chain of stores (up to 20 locations with the Mufti-Store license).

Ease of Use:

Clearly, the company knows a thing or two about making easy-to-use software. Once you’ve downloaded the software and installed it, getting going is pretty simple. The interface is organized and, well, intuitive. Down the left side of the window is a list of buttons for quick access to commonly used tasks (Make a Sale, Receive Items, etc.), and the right side of the window displays graphically rendered sticky notes with automatic reminders of things that need to be addressed (low stock alerts, customer orders waiting to be fulfilled, that kind of thing). You can add your own custom notes as well.
