JoSSA Seat Allotment in 97 Engineering InstitutionsPosted by motachashma on July 1st, 2017 JoSAA stands for Joint Seat Allocation Authority. It is an agency that is established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in 2016 to manage and regulate the admissions into 92 technical institutions which are administered by Government of India. JoSAA managed allocation of seats for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), National Institutes of Technology (NIT), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTI) in 2016-2017. This year JoSAA will be handling admissions into 97 institutes which include 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). JoSAA commenced this year’s admission process from June 15 by opening the portal of online registration and choice filling. JoSAA 2017 will conduct joint counseling to students qualifying JEE Mains 2017 and JEE Advanced 2017. Registration for JoSAA can be done by entering the JEE Main 2017 roll number, password and security pin. If the candidates have registered for JEE Advanced, then they will have to use their JEE Advanced password. (Candidates who didn’t appear in JEE Advanced are not eligible for seats in IITs) After registering for JoSAA 2017, candidates have to enter their choices of courses and institutes by June 26 which is the last date to register and fill the choices. If in a subsequent round, a candidate’s allotment from NIT+ system changes to an IIT, the candidate MUST report ONCE AGAIN at an IIT reporting centre, similarly if a candidate’s allotment from IIT changes to an NIT+ system, the candidate MUST report ONCE AGAIN at any NIT+ reporting centre, failure to do so will result in forfeiture of seats allocated in both NIT+ system and IIT.
