Vacuum Cleaner Wet and Dry: Should You Get One?

Posted by Reagan Limandharma on July 6th, 2017

When deciding between a regular vacuum cleaner, and one with a wet option, which should you pick?

Vacuum cleaners with wet and dry options are a little more expensive than normal vacuum cleaners, yet they do a better job sometimes. They can clean a lot more than a regular vacuum cleaner.

Wet and dry vacuum cleaners can suck up spills from the floor without failure. This is not something a normal vacuum cleaner can do. Doing so can ruin the electric wiring of a normal vacuum cleaner. It’s not something we recommend.

Thus, we believe that a wet and dry vacuum cleaner is perfect for you. We’ll provide you a few reasons below on why that is the case.

(1) Better at Carpet Cleaning.

You need a lot of suction power in order to pick up liquids from a floor. Thus, you’ll find that wet and dry vacuums are usually stronger than normal vacuum cleaners.

This is an advantage when cleaning carpets. Carpet hairs are notorious for being dirt collection piles. This is due to the hairs of the carpets which trap dirt fast.

Additionally, the hairs of carpets bundle up when dried, which means the dirt sticks. Thus, you may find that wetting the carpet is necessary to untangle carpet hairs.

A little sprinkle of water will be perfect for the job. Following that, you can use a wet and dry vacuum cleaner for the carpet cleaning job.

This applies also to spillage on carpets that you need to clean off. Carpet cleaning spilt drinks is easier if you’re using a wet and dry vacuum cleaner.

Of course, the wet cleaning applies to normal floorstoo. This should be obvious, but we decided to talk about carpet cleaning, since this is tougher than normal floors.

(2) Proper Insulation and Design.

Unlike normal vacuums, a wet and dry version is properly insulated to separate water and electricity. After all, if you’re sucking up liquids, you need to make sure that the liquids don’t mix with the wiring.

Thus, you have a very safe device for use. Wet and dry vacuums are the safest you’ll ever find of all vacuum cleaners. If you’re worried about electrocution problems, simply get that version.

Also, since both liquids and dirt are absorbed, the dirt bag tends to be quite tough. Regular vacuum cleaners tend to puff and release dirt smog on touch. This is not something you’ll find with wet and dry versions, which are designed to accommodate liquid and dirt.

(3) Easy to Maneuver.

Such vacuum cleaners tend to be large in size due to the electric insulation. Thus, you’ll find that they often look like buckets with 4 wheels.

It sure is easier to move around than a 2 wheel vacuum cleaner.

If you’re having trouble moving around an average vacuum cleaner, then a wet and dry version is your best bet. A gentle push is all you’ll need to move the device around.

Regardless of how exhausted you are, the cleaning process will be effortless.
