When you are on ESL Teaching Job, no doubt, there are heaps of textbooks along with CDs available for you to teach your students. You can also make use of internet to find out copious numbers of learning and teaching materials like lesson plans, interactive quizzes and others. But an ESL teacher can also make the most of local resources where he is teaching. This way you can make your session enjoyable to your students and they won’t feel bored when they find the class interesting.

If you are ESLtutor in New York City or such large city the local material available is ample. You can keep checking on daily newspapers to find out new topics to teach and involve your students to pick up any news article for comprehension lesson. Online version of newspaper makes your job much easier when you make ESL lessons for your students.

You may be capable of finding an article printed in both English and the local language. You can keep these in a folder for students to facilitate them with the exercise and with understanding the English one in best possible manner. Not just newspapers as an ESL tutor you can also search for local newsletters or brochures to interpret it into interesting ESL lessons. It can help the students in vocabulary building as well as grammar correction tutorials.

While doing ESL Teaching Job you can compose a questionnaire for your students, take them to any local attractions where they can exchange a few words with foreigners and complete the questionnaire. After completing, they must make written or verbal reports so that you can check their progress in class.

You can make ESL lessons from the problems arising in your community, ask your students to suggest you solutions. This will help them doing research and visit the community to practically see the condition and then offer apt suggestion. Perhaps that individual might even approach to your class and bestow his or her feedback, reply to questions or take part in a class discussion.

How about crafting an ESL class webpage? There are loads of webpage templates presented and all you have to do is cut and paste and your tech-savvy students may also help you publishing such webpage but make sure it has to be fun otherwise it won’t show you any results.
