Sharing Connectedness with the Community

The Pacha’s Pajamas team was out around the Bay Area last week, we’re glad we had the chance to meet so many people, introduce them to Pacha and watch their faces light up as we showed them how her adventures with nature come to life.

At the Augmented World Expo, leaders of AR and VR shared how they are using the new technology to drive growth and encourage changes to make the world better, through talks or connecting with people at booths. BALANCE Edutainment was in the startup area with 30 other leading edge AR/VR startups, demoing the environmental children’s book Pacha’s Pajamas: A Story Written By Nature

The theme of the event this year was “Superpowers to change the world” and even though Pacha is a little girl, she has a superpower - a heart filled with care about the natural world. Her interactions with the animals in the environmental book shows how every little action can add up to a force that drives change around the world.

Pacha’s Pajamas is creating a new reading experience by integrating augmented reality technology with a book that also sends an important message of protecting the environment.

Dave and Zbook were at the expo demoing the product and giving a talk about the next evolution of books that will connect the physical and digital worlds through augmented reality. The conference will be posting a video of the talk soon. For now, here is the link to his slide deck.

There is potential for more engaging books other genres by integrating technology and especially with children, a possibility to inspire change. Reading can be a more interesting experience with the illustrations that come to life, increasing their reading ability while encouraging them to learn more about nature and do their part.

Lots of people at the Bay Area Book Festival in Berkeley stopped by the Pacha’s Pajamas booth and saw a book come to life for the first time. They were wowed and many became supporters of the environmental children’s book. Children and adults were in awe when they saw the illustrations being colored in, the hummingbird flying off Pacha’s pajamas, and Pacha coming off the pages to do a little dance.

Young ones had fun pointing the phone at various illustrations in the book while the adults chatted about the technology behind Pacha’s Pajamas. People at the fair were drawn in by the novelty of a book coming to life and we got to share our message of connectedness with the community. After meeting so many new people this week, hopefully more readers of Pacha’s Pajamas, an environmental kids book, will learn some ways they can do their part to keep the world a beautiful place and grow into protectors of the environment.
