Notary Public- Benefits, Roles, and Designation

For every legal procedure encompassing the law as set by your State, you can look for the relevant notary public for the signature and formalities. A notary is licensed by the State and provides for a number of services like the Commissioning of oaths, consent to travel, certified copies of documents, statutory declaration, affidavits and notarization, apostille certificates, authentication and legalization, marriage abroad, mobile notary, and other legal procedures. They serve as the fair and neutral observer for the legal signing of documents, in exchange for a nominal service rate. Every notary is defined by disposing of his official duty of signing any important document and stamping the same by an embossed seal and stamp of their identification addressed as a notary.

Benefits of taking the reliable and professional services of a notary public:

•    They provide for an inexpensive and a simpler way for the organizations and firms to enter into any legal business contract that they want. With the notary sign on the documents, you can easily present the documents in the courts to act as a legal source of assurance by the State.

•    To establish the identity of any document and additionally prevent it from any sorts of fraud, get it signed by the signatory. This provides unhindered services to your daily business work and acts as a professional and reasonable identity for the proof of any document.

•    The signatory signing the document is accountable for the correctness maintained in the document. It is an acknowledged fact that the signatory has duly signed the document willingly and is in charge for the accuracy of the same. It is not the duty of the notary public to account or ensure the accuracy of the document. It is the responsibility of the signatory.

However, this is to be noted that a notary cannot function unless he is a lawyer, though this requirement seems to be changing in some jurisdictions. After proper verification of all the documents which are duly signed by the signatory, the notary public then appends his signature to the document and embosses his stamp to it as a mark of genuineness and originality. You can requisition the services of the notary public for the signing of legal documents which include power of attorney, deeds related to real estate contracts, and other affidavits.

The State offers you really easy credentials to become a Notary public and that subsequently helps you with extra income and an improved designation. In Canada, the Attorney General appoints lawyers as notary public. In Ontario, the law was amended in 2017 to include the appointment of paralegals as notary public. In some jurisdictions in Canada, both lawyers and paralegals are regulated by the law society.  In the United States of America, the story is different. Notaries in the United States are not lawyers or paralegals. To be a notary in the United States, it appears that a person needs to meet the following requirements. You have to be at least 18 years of age to apply to become a notary public. The State certification will verify your background check, you will have to pay a nominal fee for the notary license and pass the multiple choice test, as a complete procedure. Every state, however, appoints a notary for a period of four years and one can duly renew their notary subscription. This also certifies the advantages of being in contact with a notary and being a notary oneself.
