Thompson's sociological and political insight seem to be views mirrored and embraced to this day by many. The interview is retrospective and almost prophetic.  Whether Hunter and the world knew it then, Gonzo journalism set the realistic tone of a perceived American dream that has been a reoccurring theme throughout history.

That American Dream may still be a satirical epergne–an embellished Wild West–or a mirage under the untarnished, naked list of retrospective truths. The wisdom which America was once founded upon will always be a gamble if the facts aren't right.
