I came across so many people who say I prefer only almonds over others because of some Reason or I avoid having cashews because it has cholesterol. This enthuses me to right this article about general myths and facts about the dryfruits as under


Myth: It has lots of calories, hence not good for weight loss.


Fact: Dry fruits are nutritious. Dry fruits are for weight loss. People think that dry fruits are fattening and loaded with sugar, but it is not true. Dry fruits without preservatives and added sugar should be selected for the best health benefits. They are also rich in minerals and anti-oxidants. Be smart enough to choose dry fruits over fresh fruits as they can meet your daily nutrient requirements and control your weight. Do not indulge yourself in eating excessive of dry fruits as it may cause problems. Per serving, dry fruits have no more sugar or calories as compare to the fresh fruits. Dry fruits are healthy snack. They are much more nutritious than junk foods like potato chips, chocolate bars and candies. Dry fruits are not only for weight gain, but also for weight loss too.

Myth: Cashews are high on cholesterol:


Fact: Cashews are excellent source of vitamins and minerals. They are packed with fibre, minerals, vitamins and anti –oxidants. Cashews are naturally cholesterol free, and are very good for heart. They contain good fats and can prevent diabetes


Myth: Nutrients will be lost if after soaking almonds in water:


Fact: Almonds are beneficial to our health and helps in balancing of mind. Almonds gain more protein and nitrogen when soaked, so the nutrition level goes high. Once almonds are soaked in water the enzyme inhibitor (outer cover) is also released. If you eat soaked almonds in morning, they provide all day protein digestion.


Myth: Pistachio causes high blood pressure:


Fact: Pistachios in their natural form don’t contain a lot of sodium. However, roasted pistachios are high in sodium level as they are seasoned with salt. Eat pistachios in limited quality.


Myth: Figs cause stomach ache and bloating:


Fact: Figs have numerous health benefits. They are tasty and rich in dietary fibre. It is a natural laxative for preventing constipation and other digestive problems.


Similarly Dry cranberries, apricots, apples, prunes, currants and figs are quiet healthy. Cashew nuts, walnuts, almonds etc. have long lasting storage properties.
