Selenium could be a free (open source) machine-controlled testing suite for internet applications across completely different browsers and platforms. it's quite the same as HP Quick check pro (QTP currently UFT) only that selenium           focuses on automating web-based applications. Testing done using selenium  tool is typically referred as Selenuim Testing.

Today’s world of technology is totally dominated by machines, and their behavior is controlled by the software system powering it. Will  the machines behave specifically as we wish them to? Everytime? Everywhere? the solution to those queries exist  in software system testing. At the end  of the day, it's the software system application’s success rate that goes to manage your business growth. The same thing can be said  for Web applications as a result of most businesses nowadays  fully dependent on the web.

So by testing the code before deployment  the software system-bugs are  prevented in order that the software becomes a hit to the client

Basically Testing is divided in two process

1.Manual Testing

2.Automatic Testing.

Manual Testing
Manual testing refers to the actual fact that, the web  application being tested is completed manually by QA testers. Tests got to be performed manually in each environment , employing a completely different data set and also the success/ failure rate of each transaction  ought to be recorded.0060`.

The challenges the Tester faces  are: fatigue, boredom, delay in work, mistakes and errors owing to manual work. This ends up in the requirement for automation testing..
From here the Automation Testing gets the importance in Todays Market.
Automation Testing .

Automation Testing
Automation testing beats manual testing each time. Why? as a result of it  is quicker , less investment in human resource, not susceptible to errors, frequent execution is feasible, supports lights out execution, supports regression testing
The key purpose is that automation testing makes a tester’s job a full ton less complicated.

What is Selenium?

Selenium ia a  suite of software system tools accustomed  to automatize web browsing  testing. It is a open-source tool and is  used for functional  testing and regression testing. Since it is a open-source tool , there's no licensing cost concerned, which is a  major advantage over alternative testing tools.

Benefits of Selenuim

1.Allows testers to write down  Selenese code in 7  completely different programming languagesJava, Python, C#, PHP, Ruby, Perl and JavaScript.

2.It isn't restricted to,or  any environment  and it permits testers to perform tests on varied in operation systems => Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android .

3>Testing will be done on completely different web  browsers => Mozilla Firefox, , Google Chrome and Opera browsers.

4>Most of all, we will integrate it with frameworks like TestNG, JUnit & NUnit for managing test cases and generating reports.

But therare certainly some  shortcomings right?
• We will be able  to use Selenium solely to check web  applications. We  cannot check desktop applications or any  other software .
• There isn't any  gurantee support accessible for Selenium. We need to leverage the accessible client communities
• It isn't attainable to perform testing on pictures ,. we'd like to integrate Selenium  with Sikuli for image based testing
• There isn't any native news facility. however we will overcome that issue by integration it with frameworks like TestNG or JUnit or NUnit
Selenium Suite Of Tools
• Selenium RC (Now depreciated)
• Selenium IDE
• Selenium Grid
• Selenium WebDriver
