You have dieted and exercised, and there are still stubborn areas of fat that will not go away. Your reason for choosing liposuction may be as simple as wanting to look better in your clothes. While liposuction is not a replacement for a healthy lifestyle, it can make you look and feel better.

Liposuction surgery is performed to remove unwanted, localized deposits of fat cells from the body. The procedure is meant for body contouring. It is not a treatment for obesity. A suction tube is inserted through tiny incisions placed in inconspicuous locations on the skin. With a high-pressure vacuum, sometimes utilizing an external ultrasound source or an ultrasound canula, fat cells are extracted through the tube. The result is a re-sculpting of bulging areas into more attractive contours.

Everyone has the right to feel good about themselves. Could liposuction help you achieve the confidence you deserve?

Despite adhering rigidly to a diet and exercise program, certain areas of body fat often refuse to budge. Liposuction can remove fat from problem areas of the body, utilizing this minor surgical technique. The major benefit of this technique is that removal is permanent. Once those fat cells have been removed, they cannot return.

The most common areas of liposuction in women are the abdomen, hips, and thighs while in men they are the abdomen and love handles. Again, this procedure is not designed as a cure for obesity, but to remove areas of fat that have not responded to diet or exercise.

Liposuction is a minor surgical procedure, and you can expect to resume normal activities within two to three days, depending upon the extent of your treatment. Most operations are performed under a twilight or general anesthetic as day cases. If larger amounts of fat are removed, you will stay overnight in our surgical center or cottage. You will normally be required to wear a girdle and abdominal binder to aid skin contraction and support the operative site for about six weeks after the operation. Postoperative discomfort is minimal and, if necessary, treated with mild analgesia. Any bruising usually disappears in just a few weeks.
