What is Intuit QuickBooks Sync Manager and What is does?

In this answer QuickBooks Intuit Sync Manager is a program that works with QuickBooks Desktop products running on Microsoft Windows. Without going into all the technical details, this product runs in the background on your computer, and you can’t easily uninstall it or prevent it from running. It can (with your permission) exchange information between your QuickBooks desktop database and a version of your data that is stored in the Intuit cloud servers. Changes in your desktop data would be sent to the cloud, and changes made to that cloud copy of your data would be sent back to your desktop.

This allows cloud-based add-on products to work with your desktop data. Some of these would be applications written by third-party developers, such as TSheets and Fund box. Some of these  would be product features or applications offered by Intuit itself, such as the integration with the Intuit 1099 e-file service and the recurring credit card payments feature in QuickBooks Merchant Services.
