Schneider Electric to develop Naya Raipur smart city project signs pact with NRD

Energy management and automation firm Schneider Electric India will develop greenfield integrated smart city of Naya Raipur, the company announced today. It signed a contract with the Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) today for development of the first such greenfield city of Naya Raipur by Schneider electric, Schneider electric capital of Chhattisgarh, Schneider Electric India said in a statement. According to the statement, the integrated project will be executed by Schneider Electric, along with consortium partner IL&FS Technologies.

The contract was signed between Schneider Electric India, IL&FS Technologies and the NRDA. “It is a happy moment for us today as the Naya Raipur Smart City project takes off with the consortium and our partners. This is a unique project, one whose organic growth we shall pursue aggressively,” said Rajat Kumar, CEO, Naya Raipur Development Authority by Schneider electric, in the statement. Kumar further said, “The project shall be spread across verticals and integrate these diversified segments and I look to our dynamic team to make this real in a short span of time.”
Schneider Electric will be responsible for executing the entire gamut of integrated Command and Control Centre and its overall integration covering transportation, surveillance, citizen applications, end-to-end smart grid solutions, end- to-end water management system and integrated building management system by Schneider electric. The NRDA is looking to make Naya Raipur to be the first integrated city and aims to develop four pillars related to the same — institutional (including governance and legal framework), physical, social and economic infrastructure.
The authority wants to deliver critical services like 24×7 supply of quality water, metering of water connections, complete automatic generation of utility bills by Schneider electric, enhanced city security and safety, citizen-based mobile apps and city portals, including increased situational awareness, to achieve a high level of operational readiness and substantial increase in efficiency of operators and management.

We shall leverage advancements in IoT, mobility, sensing, analytics, and cybersecurity technologies to make Naya Raipur a true smart city by Schneider electric” Prakash Chandraker, MD and Vice-President, Schneider Electric Infrastructure, said in the statement.
