Ten Tips for Choosing your Wedding Shoes

How often you have heard from most brides talking about their struggle to find their dream bridal shoes, searching everywhere from catalogues to stores that stock wedding shoes in London. However, when choosing the perfect wedding shoes to match your perfect wedding dress, there are some tips to guide your decision making.

  1. Choose the special shoes: Even though the high stilettos may be calling to you, it is important to go with the bridal shoes that best match your personality. Even though the traditional bride is expected to wear heels or at least a wedge, these days, brides are wearing everything from cowboy boots to flats.
  2. Wear the shoes: It is vital that you wear the wedding shoes you are looking to buy. Try them on and walk around a bit to really get the feel of them. The shoes may look fantastic when sitting on the shelf but, in reality are devils on the toes.
  3. Dyeing is an option: If you cannot find the perfect color of wedding shoes to match your wedding dress, have no fears. You can easily dye the shoes to your choice color. A simple fix.
  4. Match your wedding theme: Ensure to stick to theme of your wedding when picking out bridal shoes. Open toe shoes can be perfect for a summer wedding but, closed toe shoes would be more appropriate for a winter wedding. This tip is especially important if your wedding dress has a shorter hem. It would not make a lovely picture if your mismatched shoes are peeking out from under your hemlines.
  5. Consider the weather: In a situation where there is a high probability of rain, it is advisable to stick with low heeled shoes or even flats. Heels will sink into soft mud and hinder movement so flat shoes will be easier to move in. You could also have wellington boots on hand to protect your feet and perfect wedding shoes.
  6. Practice walking: No matter how comfortable you are when wearing your everyday heels, it is important to practice walking in the new shoes. Shoes are not always what they look like and getting a feel for walking in them helps on your big day.
  7. Think about height: Even though the shoes may seem perfect, you have to take into consideration your height and your groom-to-be's height. Some brides worry about being taller than, or close in height to their grooms and it is best to veer towards lower heels in situations like this. Brides on the smaller side however, are free to go as high as they please with the shoes.
  8. Schedule in a pedicure: Pamper your feet in between all the shoe testing. You will have buffed, pretty feet and toenails on your big day. This is especially important if you are choosing to wear open toe wedding shoes.
  9. Dress fittings: Take your shoes along with you to your dress fittings. Some adjustments may need to be done to your gown hemlines and the height of your shoes will have to come in as a factor. This is why it is important to buy your shoes early, to fit in perfectly with your wedding attire.
