The Dubai Water Canal Project

Posted by Harshita Agrawal on September 18th, 2017

The Dubai Water Canal is a man made canal that runs across Dubai for a distance of three kilometres. It begins at the Business Bay and flows into the Arabian Gulf, cutting across Safa Park and Jumeirah. The width of the canal varies from eighty meters to one hundred and twenty meters at certain points. This project, upon its completion, will be fed with water from the Business Bay and the Dubai Creek, without the aid of any water pumps.

Undertaken by the Roads and Transport Authority, the main aim behind the construction of the Dubai Water Canal is to provide Dubai with some extra space for a number of activities. The canal itself is deep enough and the bridges over it are high enough that yachts and boats can use it for thoroughfare as well. The waters of the canal will also help lower the temperatures in the surrounding areas.

Highlights of the Canal

1. The canal has five pedestrian bridges which have been built to provide passage to the pedestrians, while being aesthetically pleasing as well. The bridges are fitted with escalators and elevators and one of the bridges even has a concrete slope, so it can be used by cyclists.

2. Environmentally, the canal is set to increase the flow of water and thus, maintain the quality of the water.

3. Being an architectural and engineering feat, the Dubai Water Canal is set to become a tourist hub, hoping to attract millions of tourists in a year.

4. Property development will be undertaken along the banks of the canal, which will include residential properties, hotels and restaurants, and shopping complexes. These will be called Gate Towers, Jumeirah, and Peninsula.

5. The Jumeirah Beach Park, a famous local attraction, has been extended along the canal’s peninsula. This will now feature 60 marinas, over a thousand residential units, and other commercial property in Dubai.

6. With the proposed restaurants and commercial complexes set to come up on the banks of the canal, the area is set to attract events and conventions, all due to the excellent infrastructure along the canal banks.

7. The Dubai Water Canal is set to increase marine trade and activity, by linking other marine communities and projects in Dubai.

8. There are dedicated footpaths, jogging tracks, and community places; all fitted with advanced security features, so that the people can enjoy the beauty of the place, safely.

Enter the world of luxury living

Most of the residential property in Dubai along the canal is being handled by prestigious builders and developers. A number of lavish villas, quad homes, and apartments are being developed besides the Dubai Water Canal, offering people the ultimate luxury of living in the heart of things. With beautiful views and amazing amenities, these residential projects are worth taking a look at. Most projects are open for booking. After all, living in the midst of all the activities, near so many commercial complexes, shopping areas, and restaurants, with so many amenities available to you, a home near the Dubai Water Canal can truly be a dream come true for many.
