Knowing Whether You Need A Windows Web Hosting

There are a number of differences that exist between a web hosting that is powered by windows and a web host that is powered by any other platform. Largely the success of your web page can be greatly determined by the web host that you choose.  You should consider knowing the differences that exists so that you land on a good web hosting service provider that will give you the requisite results.

The first step is to undertake due research on whether you will need a language that is Microsoft specific for development of your website.  The language of scripting and the applications that you are bound to use are the things that will determine whether you will need a web host of windows. If you are planning to use a language that is Microsoft specific then you will be forced to use Windows web hosting.  Examples of languages that are specifically Microsoft include ASP, .net and COM. All these scripting languages will require you to solely work with other Microsoft Platforms.

The second thing is to determine the application that you will use in building your website.  In a number of instances, tools that are Microsoft specific will require you to use Windows web hosting. Examples of this include Visual Basic and the other application that was discontinued FrontPage.  If you are developing a plain HTML codes for your web then you can go ahead and use web hosting that are not windows. Websites that are developed using for example visual basic will require web hosting of windows.

You should also make sure that all the programs are compatible with your windows web host.  If you are building databases that will be driven by web applications then you will need to use a server that is capable of driving databases.
