The 4 Myths Decoded That Surround Fencing Installation

Posted by Ron William on September 26th, 2017

One of the biggest misconceptions surrounding fencing installation is that vinyl fencing looks cheap and feels as such as well. People who have such opinions also feel that it does not work that as well and attribute that supposed lack of functionality to their belief that the material is a cheap one. Most people think that it is the price that dictates what its quality will be. In some cases it might be true but in this case it is absolutely not. Vinyl fencing looks nice and lasts a long time, and despite that, it is really affordable.

Myth 1 - Vinyl fences fade with time

A lot of people who grew up in the 60s and 70s would remember how vinyl fences were used in their houses in order to replace the old ones that were made from wood. Soon, they saw that the shine on that fancy vinyl faded away and with increasing time and exposure to forces of nature such as Sun and rain it turned either brown or yellow. It cannot be denied that the cheap vinyl of yore would get worse with time but the same cannot be said of the high class products such as colorbond fencing in Mandurah these days manufactured by using the latest processes these days.

Myth 2 - Aluminium fences cost more than the ones made from wrought iron

A lot of people think like this for the simple reason that they have never installed wrought iron fencing at their homes. While the material itself may be cheaper than aluminium there are associated costs that need to be taken into account before such assumptions are made. It takes a lot of work to install wrought iron fences and this makes the entire process costlier than installing aluminium ones. This amount of work is not needed in case of aluminium fencing.

Myth 3 - Cedar does not warp

When it comes to fencing and gates in Mandurah you can always choose the wooden ones. However, you should not be under the misconception that cedar never warps. There is no wood on this planet that does not warp and this obviously includes cedar as well. Wood is a natural product that has a definite cellular structure and these cells are not uniform at all. Just like a human body these cells are full of water. This means that when wood is exposed to Sun it becomes dry and the cells lose all their water. This causes them to shrink.

Myth 4 - Aluminium is not as strong as steel

This is also one of the commonest misconceptions regarding aluminium fences. Aluminium is actually just as strong as steel but it weighs only 25 per cent of the same. In fact, when it comes to the ratio between strength and weight aluminium fence panels are at the exact same point with steel of the same density. Steel fences may be heavier and stiffer but it also needs to be said that both materials are made in such a way that they can stand up to bad conditions.
