Say ?Yes? to a Deeper Sleep with an Eco-Friendly Mattress

Past Present

A long time ago, people used to sleep on the bare ground with weeping willow branches as a comforter and green moss as a pillow. After a few millennia had passed, human beings then upgraded to a straw-bed and a gunny-sack as a pillow, which made life a lot softer. A few hundred years later, we found ourselves elevated off the ground on wooden pallets and a warm spouse to rest our head on. This inevitable evolution led to what we now refer to today as REM sleep or dreaming, which opened up a whole new world of wakeful possibilities and slumbering complexities. After a while, archetypal figures like Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung and Wilhelm Reich suddenly appeared to help us interpret our dreams and fantasies and many other metaphysical puzzles, all of which led us back to the proverbial bedroom and the modern-day mattress.

Present Future

Latex mattresses are fast becoming the eco-friendly way to sleep soundly and a great way to guarantee an orthopedic experience with enviable comfort as an added bonus. So, if you’re a person who wants to put your money where it counts as far as ecology is concerned, then latex is the conscious way to go. Latex has a long history and a bright sustainably future. Sustainability is a word with multiple meanings and it’s often thrown around in a lot of different contexts. According to Webster and/or Google, sustainability means “1) The ability to be sustained, supported, upheld, or confirmed, and 2) Environmental Science--the quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance”. In other words, give sustainability your own meaning and take it to heart when you leave your humble abode to enter an alternative, eco-friendly marketplace.

E-1 European Standard for Sustainable Manufacturing

The strict E-1 European Union Certification for producing furniture is considered by many to be the universal standard for rating Green furniture. This system of classification evaluates furniture by the amount of synthetic chemicals used during the process of manufacturing and the amount of off-gassing of formaldehyde and other toxic gasses that are released from start to finish. It also measures the usage of base ingredients and how sustainable they are. The coveted E-1 rating is the best on the market, which means that that there is no off-gassing of toxic synthetic chemicals. Presently, this standard of rating is not applied to most furniture manufactured in the United States, although the state of California has recently begun to monitor the production of more eco-friendly furniture.
