Unmanaged hosting can present some problems at times however when a new website is just starting out, there seems to be more problems in that area than anywhere else.  There is not really going to be a high level of support with the server, in fact there won’t be any real help for the web user if anything should happen.  If the server stops working and one has unmanaged hosting then there is nothing out there that is going to help at all.
When someone goes pear-shaped it will be the website owner that has to take sole responsibility over the maintenance and upkeep of the server.  This can be very hard to do however especially if someone is unsure over these steps, this option however is not going to be for someone that doesn’t have the time to make sure the upkeep of the server is in good order or don’t really know how to keep the maintenance of the server either.
