The good news is that there are plenty of free places to visit and things o do in the city with kids. Apart from the free public attractions there are plenty of outdoor activities and parks to spend a relaxing day at.

You could begin by staying at any of the family friendly budget hotels in central London. It will help to save on accommodation expenses that can take up a large chunk of the budget.

One of the best properties in central London is the Adria Hotel, London in Hammersmith, which offers the best of premium facilities at affordable prices. Some of the best outdoor activities to enjoy with the kids free are:

Coram's Fields: Located in central London, Coram’s Field is a place where adults cannot visit unless they have a kid accompany them. Spread over seven acres in the centre of Bloomsbury, it is generally off-limits to visitors in the area, unless they pop-in with a kid. There is no entry fee and there are play equipments suited to children of various ages. There also is a itsy dairy farm, a cafe and loads of activities to keep busy. It opens from 9 in the morning till dusk.

Granary Square: London is home to some of the most attractive fountains around, which includes the seasonal fountains located at the Southbank and not to forget those at Olympic Park. While there are several enchanting fountains to visit, perhaps the best are those found facing St. Martin’s College at King’s Cross. They spurt and bubble to a variety of heights and rhythms and are more striking at night, when they feature coloured lights. Visitors can also get creative through an interactive app at the place (at selected times).

St James's Park: Kids just to be around nature and wildlife with birds being a common favourite. They get just the opportunity to get up close to pelicans at St James’s Park, which has been home to pelicans since 1664. That was the year when the Russian Ambassador offered King Charles II a pair of pelicans at the royal court. Since then, this unique gift has captivated numerous generations of Londoners and visitors alike. They are fed daily between half past two and three pm and provides a interesting opportunity to see them up close.

Nelson Square: London’s iconic South Bank and Bankside are popular with families and tourists to the areas. There is loads of entertainment available in the area (all except for play areas). While there are a few climbing equipment the place is generally crowded. To enjoy a more relaxed place with the kids in tow head to Nelson’s Square that is located close to Blackfriars Road. There is plenty of play equipment including rope nets, trampolines and tarpaulin slides among other items.
