Compound exercises are essential to achieving optimal muscle growth. Working out many muscles in one lift is more efficient. For instance, bench pressing helps you develop your shoulders, chest and your triceps. Make yourself appear larger than you are through the power of illusion. The way to do this is to specifically train your shoulders, upper back and torso. When you do this, your waist will look smaller, and the rest of you will look bigger. When attempting to gain muscle, eat foods high in protein throughout the course of the day and immediately after your workout. An ideal amount of protein is 15 grams 30 minutes before your workout, then the same amount after your workout. To give an example, one to two cups of milk has 15 grams of protein. Some exercises should not be performed with heavy weights. Avoid using excessive weight when performing dips, squats or anything that puts strain on your neck muscles.
