Bulk Oil

Our new refining plant in Reykjavik is equipped with highly specialized processing equipment necessary for high quality fish oil production. The new plant makes it possible for us to offer a wide range of products, fulfilling all our customers’ requirements concerning quality and flexibility.

Emphasizing high product quality and consistency of service, our fish oils are produced in accordance with HACCP and ISO 9001 certifications. All of our products are 3rd-party tested. In 2007 our supplier received a GMP Manufacturing License from the Icelandic Medicines Agency for manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API).

Our products include Cod Liver Oil, Omega-3 Fish Oil, Salmon Oil, Tuna Oil, Shark Liver Oil and Squalene. We offers a range of standard products that can be adjusted to our customers’ requirements. We offer EPA and DHA products in both EE and TG up to 90% concentration.

Our fish oil products comply with all major pharmacopoeias and the CRN monograph while meeting all official regulations in regards to environmental contaminants. They are free from genetically modified materials (GMO) and components and can be fortified with vitamins A, D & E, antioxidants and flavors upon request. Products can be delivered in drums, IBC’s, flexitanks or tank containers.

The Impact of Climate Change on the Fish

The temperature of the sea water has changed in the past 10 to 15 years and become warmer. Before there were haddock only on the SW coast of the country, now they are all over because they are a warm water fish.

If the size of the fish is too small the area is closed down. There are 40 people in the government who follow fish size. However the fish sizes are increasing and many feel that this is a result of the ocean regenerating as well as the food chain.

Throwing back fish that are not good enough or are dead is not allowed because then they are not counted as part of the quota. Instead they must be brought ashore and given to the government to sell as part of their quota. Iceland is in the unique position as the only country in the world that follows these strict standards.
