What to Pack and How?

When it comes to purchasing and transportation of goods, your first concern, quite naturally, would be protection. You’d see that they reach the destination safe and secure, and the only way to make sure is to see to its packaging.

Food Items

Food usually requires more than one layer of packaging. If you think about packing a bunch of fruits for instance, you’d first need a base to hold them all together. Baskets made of cane are recommended for large and heavier loads, but if it’s just a couple of them in smaller quantities, you could opt for boxes made with hard board or so. You can finish off with one or more layers of plastic wrap, or cling film, making sure they are firm and tight with no space for them to move and roll off. If it’s going out for a special occasion, you could top it with some ribbon or simple decor.

Small Gifts

If you are looking for gift wrapping ideas, you would find plenty. Special gift wrapping papers could give your gift a beautiful finish. Protecting a beautifully wrapped and decorated gift can be a little tricky, especially if you want to store it in a secret place until the time is right for the occasion. In such situations, you’d want to use one of those handy brown paper bags or anything convenient, preferably with handles and keep it out of reach of your kids, just so they wouldn’t feel curious to find out what’s inside. If you opt for a thick type, you can be assured that it is safe and protected for a couple of days or weeks from both damage and reach of your kids.

Clothing

Packaging for clothing is the least complicated and the least expensive, for all the obvious reasons of course. All you’d need to protect it from is unlikely damage and stain or dirt. The worst damage that could happen to a clothing item is to get torn by a sharp edge, but then again, it is highly unlikely unless of course, it is being carelessly transported. Clothing is usually put in plastic bags or covers, even when you purchase them at the store. If you’d ordered them online, it would probably have another cover over it when it’s being delivered to your door.

Equipment and Large Objects

Most of the time, large items are packaged solely for protection purposes, and it would hardly matter how they look. The packaging would need to be firm and extra protective in order to prevent any kind of damage. Large packaging again, includes multiple layers of different material to ensure extra safety. Usually, thick foam is used to cover the item on all sides after which it may be wrapped in layers of plastic wrap and bubble wrap before it is placed in a protective cardboard box or carton. This type of packaging usually requires loads and loads of thick tape, wire and cellophane. If the item needs to be transported a long distance, it may require a couple of extra layers of protection, just to be on the safe side.

Unless it actually becomes a subject to talk about, it would never really occur to you how important it is to use proper packaging for all your purchased goods and gifts.
