SAT Practice Test - How To Improve SAT Score?

Posted by SATproblems on August 12th, 2011

SAT, better known as Standardized Aptitude Test (SAT) is important for high school students because it is the gate pass of their entry to a college or any other higher education institute. To get the entry, one needs to score high at SAT. The average SAT score is about 1540, although each collage or university has its own SAT score standards. Your SAT score itself has its own impact on your college admission; however, several other factors contribute to it like your previous academic record, extra-curricular activities and so on. Some additional factors include SAT II and ACT score. Both aspects, however, are only optional. In order to achieve higher SAT scores, you need to devote disciplined and dedicated hours every day until your SAT test date. Here are a few tips and advice on how to get high SAT score:

Take a Sat Practice Test Online – Don’t be afraid if you fail at SAT practice tests. Diagnostic tests are meant to prepare you for particular exam. Visit the Educational Testing Services (ETS) for a complete practice test. Once you are done, go over the questions and your answers, taking particular note on your incorrect answers or mistakes.

Register For A Review Course Or Formulate An Individual Study Plan - It is totally up to you if you want to sign up for reviews or SAT prep courses or simply design a study plan yourself. Some people find it more useful attending a review course; others prefer self study. Whichever option you chose, your main objectives are to make acquainted yourself with SAT testing secrets, understand test algorithm and overcome your weak points. Give at least two months to prepare yourself for the exam.

Try To Be Completely Stress Free Week Before The Exam - Do not start any new book or other review materials a week before exam. This time must be spent relaxing. Avoid anxiety or stressful activities.

Preparing For Actual Test Day - Sleep early, although most likely you would not be able to sleep immediately. Set the alarm clock. Prepare your bag with several pencils, IDs, and other required papers and things needed for at examination center. Eat fiber rich breakfast but avoid foods which may cause stomach upset such as dairies. Pack a snack and several candies. Dress in layers so you can easily remove or don them if it gets too hot or cold in the test area.
