Those who enter college and attend college courses are often faced with the task of composing an autobiographical essay. Arrange the events in clear and logical order. While flashbacks and prefiguration can be strong literary tools, the best way to compose your autobiographical essay is in an essentially chronological fashion. You can use a flashback if you want, but do not throw the test with time jumps. This does not confuse readers and increase the likelihood that they will misunderstand your overall message.

Describe all the characters in detail. Remember, while the characters in your essay are the people who know you well, your readers have never met them. Describe them in detail so that your readers can understand the basic physical and mental characteristics as well as the motivations for their actions.

Add sensory details to make events clear for readers. Allow your readers to hear, see, taste and smell your story. If possible, try to include details that appeal to each direction at least once during your essay. Write a conclusion that clearly expresses the importance of the event and reflects on the lessons learned. Your conclusion should not only bring your article to a loved one but also point out why the event was important in the grand scheme of things.
