If you are slowly striking off one job after another from your “to-do wedding list”, then I am really proud of you. After all, preparing for a wedding is no cakewalk. From communicating with the decorator and catering teams to fixing the wedding hall and picking up the outfits, there are so many things to do. But, aren’t you missing out on something very important? Yes, you caught me! I am talking about deciding your wedding photographer, who will capture all the majestic and emotional moments of the biggest day of your life. But then, let me tell you that finding a skilled and creative photographer can be quite difficult, especially because the market is flooded with too many photographers now.

While all of them claim to be extremely experienced and skilled, do not simply rely on anyone by believing their words. So, here are a few things which you should ask while interviewing a Sydney wedding photographer.

  • How many weddings have you shot till date?

This should be the first question that you must ask awedding photographer. While it is true that there is no specific amount or any specific answer to this, which makes a photographer perfect for taking up your project, do not end up hiring a photographer who shots only 5-10 weddings per year. Expertise comes with experience and hence, you must definitely ask this one. The man behind your wedding album should be creative and should have magic in his hands so that you can’t stop smiling while looking at the pictures for the rest of your life.

Also, make sure that his main focus is on wedding photography and not any other kinds of work such as wildlife, food, etc.

  • Can I see a full wedding album?

Secondly, you should ask him to show you a full wedding album and if possible, two or three of them. Don’t get fooled by photographers who will pressurize you go through their online gallery, which of course, consists of their best works. Observe each and every photograph of a particular album through a critical eye, and then only zero down on a wedding photographer.

  • What kinds of clients have you worked with?

The next question which you should ask him is about the kinds of clients he has worked with. This is mainly to check how his communication skills are and whether you will be comfortable to work with him or not. You should also ask him about his availability and the time he would take for the post-production work. And yes, make sure that this is a full-time photographer and not a newbie who is just trying his hand at photography.

  • What kind of lighting and camera do you use?

Last but not the least, do not forget to ask him about the kind of lighting and camera he would be using. If you see that he is not using high-tech equipment, then you should refrain from hiring him.

So, these are four of the most important questions which you should ask while interviewing a photographer for your big day. And yes, do ask him about his package and cancellation policy as well.
