brain360 If you lack concentration, you won't be able to convert short-term memory into long-term memory. Meditating is a good way to get rid of your stress and improve your memory skills. In order to meditate, you should locate a spot that is calm and comfortable, and attempt to focus all thoughts on your breathing. Breathe in and out slowly. Work at meditating for thirty minutes a day at the minimum to help keep your brain in shape. To improve memory, try playing classical music when you can. Soothing, soft music can relax your body and mind, which can better your memory. Lean back in a comfortable chair, in a room with low lit lights, to get the most out of this type of music. It is much easier to forget things when you are stressed out. When you're attempting to recall where you placed something, try to relax. Instead of quickly becoming upset with yourself, allow some time to recall the information. If you tend to forget someone's name almost immediately after being introduced, think of a person you already know or are familiar with who also shares that name and create a mental link between the two people. Using a celebrity will also work, especially if they're similar in looks.
