Entrance Exam for admission into Engineering Programme

Joint Entrance Examination 2018exam dates have been released and the application process will start from 1 December 2017.  The exam is conducted for the candidates who are willing to take admission in engineering courses at undergraduate level. The organising committee for this exam iis CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). The score obtained by candidates in exam is used for admission at different NITs, IITs, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and other private universities and colleges, so the competition level will be very high for this exam. When a student clears the exam then he/she can proceed for JEE advanced to take admission in top Engineering colleges like IITs (Indian Institute of Technology).

The examination is conducted in both modes offline as well as online. The offline exam will be conducted first, after that the computer based test will be held. The schedule for the examination is given below.

Eligibility Criteria

Before appearing for the exam, the candidates should check the eligibility criteria, whether they are eligible to appear for the exam or not. On satisfying all the criteria, only then they should proceed with the further processes.

Educational Qualification:

  • From this year onwards candidates’ Class 12 score will not be used for calculating the All India Rank.
  • MHRD officials announced that for admission to IITS, NITs and other such IFTIs, candidates need to score minimum of 75% marks in their 12th Board Examinations, or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards. Whereas there is a relaxation of 10 % for SC/ST category candidates.
  • Candidates appearing in entrance exam for the year 2018, should have passed their Class 12 boards in 2016 or 2017
  • There should be minimum 5 subjects in the Class 12 Boards of the candidates.
  • Candidates, pursuing in class 12th or any equivalent qualifying exam in the year 2018 are also eligible.

Age:

Some age criteria are given for the candidates appearing for the JEE Main entrance exam 2018 but there is a relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category.

 Number of Attempts:

The total numbers of attempts for which candidates can appear are only three. After three attempt candidates will not be considered eligible for the exam.

Aadhar card is mandatory for the exam

All the Indian citizen candidates applying for the Joint Entrance Examination should possess Aadhaar card issued by UIDAI. Candidates will be required to enter their Aadhaar card number, date of birth, name, & gender in their application form which will be confirmed with the UIDAI’s data.  In case, there is a mismatch in the details, the applicants will not be able to fill the application form. So, Aadhar card will be used as their ID to appear for the exam.
